THE GREATER LIGHT

Let There Be Light!
So God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
This greater light he called The Sun.
The sun can sometimes get a bad rap for only having negative effects on our health when, in fact, it has several positive effects for our overall health

Positive Effects of the Sun

Enhances your mood

Nothing improves your morning mood more than prayers to God your creator and a fresh dose of sun light.

Improves Sleep

Sunlight exposure impacts how much melatonin your brain produces, which is what tells your brain when it is time to sleep. When it gets dark, you start producing melatonin so you are ready to sleep in about two hours. With more sunlight in the summer, you are likely to feel more awake

Relieves Stress

Everyone experiences stress for various factors, such as family, work,  health issues & even more heightened stress levels during the pandemic. We can relieve stress in a variety of ways, including praying, singing or listening to positive music, exercising, or other relaxing hobbies, reading the word of the God or by getting out in the glorious fresh air for a little sun exposure.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a vitamin involved in maintaining healthy bone strength. One way you can get this sun vitamin is exposure to the ultraviolet light from the sun. However, you don’t need much time in the sun to reap the benefits. 15 minutes of sun exposure will provide all the Vitamin D you need.

 NEGATIVE Effects Of The Sun

Hyper-pigmentation, Wrinkles & Aging

We associate wrinkles with natural aging, but sun exposure is a significant factor in their development and how early they appear. UV light damages collagen and elastic tissue in the skin, so it becomes fragile and does not spring back into shape, causing sagging— the only factor worse than UV light exposure for aging and wrinkling is cigarette smoking which causes the skin to become yellowish or brownish with thick with deep wrinkles. Some people will also get white cysts and blackheads on the cheekbones from sun exposure and smoking. UV light exposure also causes white and dark spots on the skin, as it damages the surface cells.
